Your checklist for touring an apartment on the upper floor

02.10.2021

Many clients are reluctant to consider options for apartments on the first and top floor if the opportunity arises. Some believe it is very cold in such homes. Others are afraid of roof leaks when it rains. And still others don’t want to go upstairs in case there is a power outage and the elevator doesn’t work.

But in fact, a top-floor apartment is not necessarily “a house with a leaking roof”. Let’s see if it’s worth buying a top-floor apartment.

Here is a checklist for you just in case you go touring such an apartment:

➡️ Pay attention to the year the house was built. The older the house, the more roof problems there will be.

➡️ Specify when the roof was repaired. If recently, then you shouldn’t be afraid of leaks and moisture.

➡️ Notice if there is mold on the walls and ceiling. If you see green spots inside, it is not the right option for you.

➡️ Ask where the elevator mechanism is located. If it is placed on the technical floor, then the noise will not bother you. In addition, your apartment will not overheat due to the extra space.

In our opinion, an apartment on the upper floor is like a house on the ground floor. If you buy a top-floor apartment, you can make a two-level apartment or arrange a rooftop observation deck. In addition, no street noise can reach you on the top floor, and the air is much cleaner. And surely no chance that your upstairs neighbor floods your apartment.
